Below is a checklist of important points to ensure that your pool facility is compliant to pools safety and pool fencing standards.
A POOL FENCE CHECKLIST

Below is a inspections checklist which may help with checking your fence before having it professionally inspected. Please be aware that this checklist does not replace the need to have your pool inspected by a licensed Pool Safety Inspector.
1. Have all plants and trees which may offer climbable access been trimmed or removed?
2. Is there an area 300mm inside the fence and 1200mm outside the fence that is clear of objects that could be used as footholds?
3. Where the pool fence meets another fence or wall, is there a 900mm area clear of footholds?
4. Is there a gap of at least 1250mm between the water and any metal fencing or fencing hardware? NOW CHECK THE GATE.
5. Does the gate open away from the pool.
6. Is the latch secure? ie: Does the gate stay closed and not pull open without using latch? Does it stay closed with a child swinging on the bottom rail?
7. Does the gate self close when released at any position from fully open to resting on the latch?
8. Are the hinges 900mm apart (or have they been rendered not climbable)?
9. Is the distance between gate and fence 10mm or less or if not, is this area clear of toeholds?
10. Is the gap between the bottom of the gate and the ground less than 100mm?
11. Is the latch a minimum 1500mm from the ground?
12. Are all the fence panels in place and secure?
13. Is the gap between the bottom of the fence and the ground less than 100mm?
14. Are vertical gaps all less than 100mm?
15. Is the only access to the pool through compliant pool gates? (no direct access from doors or windows)
16. Is the fence a minimum 1200mm in height?
17. Are horizontal rails a minimum of 900mm apart (or have they been rendered non climbable)?
18. Is the fence free of sharp edges and other hazards which may trap fingers or toes?
19. Is the fence free of projections or indentations more than 10mm in depth?
20. Is your CPR sign compliant? ie: Is it a minimum 300mm x 300mm? Is it durable and weatherproof? Was it printed after February 2006?
21. Have all climbable objects been removed from fenceline (inside and out)?
